Well mother nature was at
Willard again this week, but we made it!!! Due to the
inclining weather and the lack of time, we qualified the Late
Models and the Modifieds and then ran features determined from
qualifying. The Bombers and the 4/6 Cly. features were
determined by pill draws.
We want to thank everyone for their patience and for coming
out and helping support the track. We appreciate each and
everyone of you!
We will be having a "Sizzler Bomber Special" July 18. Hope to
see everyone there.
Coming the 25th of July, "4/6 cly. Splash". Also this will be

REMEMBER......Racing will return to Saturday nights on July
11. Hope to see all of you again soon at the Tri State's
Fastest Quarter Mile!!!

6-13-09
Really good night of racing.
Track was once again in PERFECT condition
A small change in the program format was made. Following the
Driver's Meeting at 7 all cars hot lapped and qualifications
began for the LM and Mods. When qualifying was completed
Bomber and 4 cylinder heats were ran, followed by LM and
Modifieds Heats. Features were then ran, beginning with
Bombers, 4 Cylinders, Late Models and Modifieds. Entire
program was completed just before midnight!
On behalf of track management and personnel, I'd like to thank
everyone who came through the gates last night, both
spectators and racers. Reduced admission prices for children
continue to make Willard Speedway THE place to be for family
friendly racing action.
Also, thanks to Racers In Christ for attending last night,
they set up a booth for information and also provided a jump
house for the children (it was shaped like a race car).

6-6-09
Points will be posted at the
track on Saturday. I do not figure or keep points for the
track.
Also, regarding the payout window. We were working very short
handed on Saturday night (minus two regular helpers)
Documentation of winnings must be kept and your money has to
be placed into an envelope and your personal pay sheet has to
be pulled for the documentation. This is not a 2 minute job.
We regret it took so long to get your pay to the window.
Please keep in mind, any week you don't wish to wait for your
money, it can be signed for and picked up the next week.
I'd also like to say thanks for everyone's patience. It is our
weekly goal to put on a timely show for all the fans and
racers. This takes an effort not only by race staff but by you
the driver's in getting to the staging area at your appointed
time. We appreciate the efforts of everyone who comes through
the gate, whether as a racer, or spectator.
Each week we continue to grow and as we grow there are new
issues to address. I'm proud of the facility and I'm proud of
the programs that have been ran this year. But most of all I'm
proud that the track is open and we fans and you racers have
this venue to choose from. We realize it's a tough economy and
Randy has tried to be as family friendly as possible when
figuring gate fees. While it's appreciated when you come in,
you must remember it's less in the overall pot when figuring
payouts.
You repeatedly ask for the payout. I don't have that
information to give to you. I do know it is based on a
percentage of the gate. Please understand it can not be 100%
of the gate as there are many other expenses such as
electricity and insurance that must be paid, also fuel to
prepare the track, trophy purchases, etc. Thankfully most of
the people who work each week at the track are volunteers and
do so because they love the track and want to see it open.
With your continued support the payouts will increase and the
shows will continue to grow and be better. Again, we
appreciate each of you and look forward to seeing you back at
the track each week.
We will be having a practice
session on Thursday nights weather permitting. We will start at 6pm. There will
be a $20 charge for each car/driver and $5 for each person
helping/watching.
These charges are to help offset the cost of preparing the
track for the practice sessions. We hope to offer limited
concessions in the future.
A light rain shower paid a
visit and delayed the program for about an hour overall but it
added just enough water to make an already well prepared track
FAST! Thanks to the track prep crew who put in many long hours
over the past week working to get the "soft" spots out of both
turns. The track was SMOOTH all the way around and racy from
top to bottom! Not one person in attendance was disappointed
in the racing surface.
If I don't have the following right, I'm sure I'll be
corrected...and if I leave someone out, I'm sorry because I
just don't know...again, correct me. I have Taco Fletcher as
being a first time feature winner in the Late Models, Beadie
Blackburn as winning his first heat race in the modifieds,
Jake Keaton as winning his first feature on dirt - and in a
modified, Shirlie Tackett as winning his first heat race in
the 4-6 cylinders. It was also the first time out of 4 weeks
trying to see David Guilds piloting the 53P six cylinder (and
I'm blaming the rain shower on HIM
)
We have added additional food items in the concession stand,
Corn Dogs AND if you already aren't making the trip to Willard
for the Hot Dogs, you MUST come by for FUNNEL CAKE FRIES!! One
word about this treat - YUMMY!!!
Now for the B-I-G News....Points will begin NEXT WEEKEND,
Saturday, June 30, with DOUBLE Points in ALL Divisions!
Thank you to everyone who participated in any way this week at
the track. We appreciate the continued support and look
forward to seeing you next week at the Tri State's Fastest 1/4
Mile.
